Food hygiene regulations have been put in place to ensure that caterers must either complete the requisite food hygiene training or be closely supervised and instructed by someone who does.

The food hygiene courses available from Debbie Dawtrey are aimed at anyone working in catering or hospitality whether employed or self employed, working in restaurants, hotels, fast food outlets, takeaways, cafes, bars, kitchens, catering in hospitals, schools and colleges.

Wide Ranging Benefits

The law now requires all food handlers to be trained, instructed and supervised to a level appropriate to the work they carry out.Food Hygiene Courses Suffolk

Other benefits of our training usually include:

  • Increased business and profitability
  • Enhanced staff morale and loyalty
  • Enhanced customer confidence
  • Reduction in waste
  • Improvement in quality

With incidents of food poisoning rising and a new breed of ‘super bugs’ making their presence known, it has never been more important for anyone who is directly or indirectly involved in the handling and preparation of food to receive the appropriate levels of formal training.

Legal Requirements

As a business owner or food handler, you have a duty to comply with the provisions of Regulation (EC) 852/2004 of the European Parliament on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs, the Food Safety Act 1990, Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2005.

By law, you also need HACCP training if you are responsible for developing or maintaining a FSMS (Food Safety Management System).

The Catering Industry Guide (which EHOs follow when interpreting legal requirements) states suitable food hygiene training courses for different job roles:

  • Caterers preparing open high risk foods must have obtained a Foundation (Level 2) Food Hygiene Certificate (or an equivalent level of training) within three months of starting work. Prior to this, they need to be closely supervised.
  • It is good practice for caterers who supervise others to also have an Intermediate (Level 3) Food Hygiene Certificate and/or an Advanced (Level 4) Food Hygiene Certificate.
